Baby Ducks!

On August 1, 2024 we welcomed ten new baby ducks to our flock!

We started our duck adventure last Easter upon giving into our third daughter’s persistent pleas for a pet duck while visiting our local ACE Hardware store. We had turned down her previous requests during prior visits that Spring; however, this time was different.

I couldn’t resist the sweet look on her face and the sideways reasoning in my mind thought “ducks would be better than stuffing their Easter baskets with candy,” – which of course, I did anyway.

I caved!! I said yes!

My husband shot me a dirty look across the store reading “REALLY???”

There was no turning back. My daughter picked out six baby ducks. Two Indian Runners, two Khaki Campbells, a Blue Swedish, and a Black Swedish while I grabbed up all the supplies we needed to support our new duck journey.

The ducks doubled in size daily! Yes, you heard me right! THEY DOUBLED IN SIZE DAILY!!

Before we knew it, they were full grown and have been a great addition to our farm!

Fast forward to the present… we decided to add to the flock with ten new female Indian Runners and start a duck egg business as well as use the eggs in our own delicious recipes.
